Marv’s philosophy is to create images that are strong graphically and are able to communicate a particular message that has visual impact and inspires viewers.  His photographic career began in New York working in the music industry.  Marv shot album covers, studio sessions and pictures for Teen magazines.  He soon moved to California and attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts.  He was recruited to work in Texas for a high profile portrait studio associated with Nieman Marcus, traveling throughout the region on assignments.  Marv then became a photographer for the State of Florida, Department of Commerce, shooting a variety of pictures for tourism and government, publicizing events in the State.

In 1980, he returned to San Diego to start his own business.  In addition to shooting, he has taught photography at San Diego City College, UCSD Extension and The Design Institute.  In his spare time he is a docent at the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) in Balboa Park where he lectures on current exhibits.

His personal work includes People, Places and Things in a series of images that sees our world through his lens. While using composition as an important element for these pictures, we see that light plays a significant part, whether in sunlight, open shade or manmade, to enhance the view
